Welcome to the Music Ministry!
Welcome to The Music Ministry of Georgetown Presbyterian Church. The Music Ministry exists in order to lead people in the worship of God, to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to provide for the musical training and Christian formation of children and adults, and to enrich the cultural life of the community.
Making music for worship is a joyful undertaking that calls for genuine dedication of both time and talent. Our goal in selecting and preparing music for worship is to offer a broad spectrum of styles and genres, including traditional sacred works, contemporary praise songs, gospel and world music and everything in between that brings glory to God.
Worship at Georgetown Presbyterian Church is highly participatory. We take the work of worship and liturgy seriously. Liturgy is "the work of the people." Spoken and sung prayers, psalms, hymns and responses are opportunities for the People of God to express their heartfelt thoughts to God in worship. From this vista, the choirs assist the ministers and organist in leading the congregation in speaking to God through word and song.
We hope you will take time to explore the connections offered on this site and learn more about the Music Ministry of GPC. Everything we do is based in our desire to help people connect to God. Our prayer is that you will be blessed by what you learn and will join us in declaring the greatness of God in song.
